Our Mission:

Maternie’s mission is to empower women with clear, independent, and rigorously-researched information on health and wellness. We take every topic seriously and relentlessly seek the best information available.

Our Values:

Always Empower — We produce everything with the goal of empowering our readers so they have the best information possible. There are no frivolous questions in our world — if women care about something for their health or wellness, we will research it. Seriously.

Be Rigorous — We turn to scientific evidence first and foremost. For the many questions we research that lack hard data, we let you know that and do our best with the information available, including expert opinions and user reviews.

Editorial Independence — Our business model is not built on affiliate links or writing content to sell products. We are an independent organization and make money from reader subscriptions and advertisements that are clearly labeled.

Seek the Truth — Reporting is vital not just for accountability, but to improve the status quo. While major media outlets occasionally cover women’s health, no outlet is dedicated to the daily, pounding-the-pavement reporting that is needed for progress.

Thrive, Not Just Survive — Women’s health is often belittled while also being tightly controlled. Our pain is dismissed as routine, yet our bodies are increasingly controlled by government. Improving access to information is critical as women navigate this reality.

Our Beats:

Body Size — Evaluating the evidence on products and methods that claim to lead to weight loss or gain.

Conditions Affecting Women — Including UTI, cancers, endometriosis, migraines, thyroid issues, and more.

Cosmetic Dermatology — Breaking down Botox, fillers, serums, creams, and everything in between.

Menopause — Exploring the research and explaining the many symptoms that arise with menopause.

Parenting — Guidance on common health and behavioral questions for kids.

Periods + Birth Control — What’s normal, what’s not, and what’s new in the research. Plus comprehensive pros and cons on different BC methods.

Pregnancy — Answering your questions on getting pregnant, treating common pregnancy struggles, and navigating this wild time.

Postpartum — Diving deep into the physical and mental changes and challenges that come after pregnancy.
